'Jose' bag, hand-stitched vegetable leather

Vegetable-tanned leather is a leather made without the use of toxic chemicals but rather from plants materials such as bark and foliage.  The final leather differs both in its touch and smell, with the colour being determined by the mix of plants used in the process.   Vegetable leather is an example of a more environmentally friendly product.  It is more expensive than a 'chemical’ leather due to the lack of quality skins that are made in this manner.  The aging of vegetable leather is remarkable and with time takes on an unparalleled beauty.
